Welcome to All Dairy Free

Whether you (or someone you love) have had a dairy allergy or lactose intolerance for some time or have just recently found out, I hope this website encourages you.

It may help you to know that you are not alone. Dairy is one of the most common allergies, especially in children. Also, it is estimated that somewhere between 30 to 50 million people in the United States are lactose intolerant.

One of the most important and easiest things you can do is to read product labels for ingredients. You will be surprised at how many products contain or “may contain” milk. I was shocked that even many of the spices I was using had labels that said, “may contain milk.”  Before I purchase anything for myself to eat, I always check the ingredient labels. Most of us know to avoid lactose but, it is also helpful to know the names for milk proteins like casein and whey that can be in products.

When I found out I was allergic to casein, one of the proteins in dairy milk, I thought to myself, “What in the world am I going to eat and how am I going to cook for my family?” I’m not going to lie, there was a big learning curve and it took me a while to adapt my recipes to still taste good but contain no dairy. Many recipes that I found on the internet were time consuming, complicated, and required hard to find ingredients. I had to have recipes that were quick and easy to prepare. Over time and with trial and error, I just started to learn what worked and what didn’t. Now, I want to help other people by sharing my knowledge and recipes. That way, you can skip the big learning curve and go straight to eating right and feeling better.
